Got more room for another one of ‘em reviews of the Xperia X1? German site AreaMobile is running a very long, yet comprehensive and detailed review of the handsets. Sadly though it’s in German and Google attempting to translate using Google translate would definitely give you a headache.

Fortunately, gadgetwidgets whose owner seem to know the German language has translated the German review in full details as well.

The review is categorized into four parts namely; I. Delivery, design, processing, display and keyboard, II. The Camera and Music Functions, III. Browsing, messaging, PIM functions, connectivity and synchronization, IV. Special functions, Java performance, menu leadership, V. Voice, quality, reception, battery power.

You may read the full German review here, or the English translation here.

But if you don’t have the time, here are the highlights of the Xperia X1 Review:

  • no memory card included in the package (this one better be corrected by SE. All their phone models always come with Memory Stick cards, and we don’t know any reason why the Xperia X1 won’t have it as well)
  • the Xperia X1’s combined metal and plastic materials makes up for an elegant look but a bit on the thicker and heavier side however. (well, I kinda expect this. the P990i is thick and heavy as well)
  • it’s 3.2 megapixel camera may be a bit on the obsolete side though, Both Samsung and LG have 8MP camera phones already
  • good interface and synchonization of music player with Windows Media Player
  • excellent 1500mAh battery
