O2 have recently released the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, which replaces last years model, the X10 Mini Pro. O2 are offering the Xperia Mini Pro for only £129.99 which is the best price so far for the handset. Other retailers are still charging around £200 for the handset which requires a minimum top up.
Through O2 however, a minimum top up isn’t required and delivery is free. If that wasn’t enough of a bargain, O2 are also offering a £20 gift voucher for one of five retailers, like they are with the Xperia X8. You can choose from Next, Boots, Amazon.co.uk, Argos or Pizza Hut for your voucher.
O2 are still selling the Xperia X10 Mini Pro and that is only £10 cheaper than the Xperia Mini Pro, which has many more features. The Xperia Mini Pro features a 3 inch display and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The camera remains at 5 megapixel like the X10 Mini Pro but, it is capable of recording in 720p. Also unlike last year’s model, the Xperia Mini Pro features a multi touch Reality Display, with Mobile Bravia Engine. Like it’s big brothers, the Xperia Mini Pro also features Facebook inside Xperia.

We recently reported that the Argos eBay outlet store was selling the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 for £69.99 with £3.95 delivery. At the time, O2 still had the handset listed at £99.99 but, they have now reduced the price of the budget smartphone from Sony Ericsson.
You can now pick up the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 directly from O2 for £79.99. With O2 you get free delivery and a top up isn’t required like it is through third party retailers such as Carphone Warehouse. O2 are also offering a £20 gift voucher with the handset. There are five retailers you can choose from for the gift voucher, Next, Boots, Argos, Amazon or Pizza Hut.
This deal applies to the black model and the O2 exclusive white model of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 handset.

For those of you who are still in a contract with O2 after taking out Sony Ericsson’s 2010 flagship handset, the Xperia X10 here’s some good news. O2 have finally released the Android 2.3 update for the Xperia X10 which, has been out for a little while now on unbranded X10 handsets and even other network branded handsets. O2 UK are the last network to provide the update to their customers as even O2 Ireland and O2 Germany provided the update as early as August. According to a blog post over on O2 the delay is because they found the update caused problems with the phone’s camera. They have however been working with Sony Ericsson to resolve this issue and it is now fixed.
Despite this, O2 still warn that the Xperia X10 may run slower once updated than it currently does on Android 2.1. Users of the O2 forum however so far have found the opposite with Quadrant tests showing Android 2.3 almost doubles the results. To update you will need to connect your phone to a PC and use PC Companion to update. You will need to back up your data with an app from the Market as the 2.3 update wipes your data and the Backup and Restore feature found on the X10 has been removed from the 2.3 update.

We recently reported that the Argos outlet store on eBay were selling the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 on O2 for only £74 instead of the usual £99. We’ve now found that Argos are also selling the Xperia X10 Mini at a reduced price.
Again the handset is on their outlet store on eBay. Normally the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is £119 on O2 but, through eBay you can pick up the X10 Mini for £83.98 including delivery.
Even though the Xperia X10 Mini is last year’s model, this is a very reasonable discount on the price and is almost half the price of Sony Ericsson’s 2011 Mini model, the Xperia Mini. For those new to Android, this is a great little handset. Even though the X10 Mini’s version of Android won’t be updated above 2.1, this is adequate enough for the type of handset it is. It comes equipped with a 5 megapixel camera which a lot of similar priced handsets don’t have.

The price of the Xperia Play just keeps dropping and dropping. Originally the handset was priced at £500 in the UK and recently saw a price drop which made it less than half of the original selling price. More recently, we’ve seen the Xperia Play at Argos for £180 but, unfortunately all the available stock has already been snapped up. Now the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is available for even less through O2. O2 have reduced the price of the Xperia Play to only £149.99 and does not require a top up. The price drop applies to both the standard black model and the O2 exclusive white model.
While the Xperia Play has received mixed reviews, this is a price that can’t be passed up and is in fact cheaper than Sony Ericsson’s budget Xperia phones, such as the Xperia Mini yet, packs more punch.

UK network and mobile phone retailer O2 are offering two of Sony Ericssons finest handsets to buyers at greatly reduced prices.
The Xperia Arc and Play are both on sale with O2 and can be picked up from as little as £10.50 a month on a 24 month contract. The Xperia Arc is on offer at £16.50 a month with 50 minutes, 250 texts and 500mb of data however, this can be reduced by decreasing the data bundle size to 100mb to just £13.50 a month. With O2 it is then possible to cancel the data bundle altogether once your contract has begun which would take the cost down to a superb £10.50 a month. Obviously, if you need more call time or data use then that deal isn’t going to be suitable but, o2 are offering a number of reduced price contracts which include a free Xperia Arc handset.
As for the Xperia Play, that is priced at a higher £27 a month for 200 minutes and unlimited texts with a 500mb data bundle attached. This is around £10 a month cheaper than the same deal when the handset is not included in the O2 sale. The same applies when it comes to reducing the cost of the contract by removing the data bundle which could take the monthly cost down to £21 a month with no data included. It is also possible to get the Xperia Play on a cheaper monthly contract however, there is a cost of upto £105 as an upfront payment for the handset on cheaper contracts. Higher call time and text contracts are available for the Play too.

As previously reported, the newly released Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is available to buy in the UK. The handset has now been picked up by at least three of the major UK mobile carriers, namely Orange, O2 and Vodafone who have the Ray listed for sale on their respective websites.
The listing on the O2 website itself shows the Xperia Ray as in stock and it is available to buy on the network if purchasers go through third party sellers such as the Tesco phone shop. It is available from £15.50 a month which offers a free handset over 24 months. The Xperia Ray is also available on the O2 £10.50 a month tariff but, costs £79.99 upfront to purchase that way. The Orange website is now showing the Ray as ‘coming soon’ but, is confirmed as coming to the network for the first time and is expected to be available on a variety of contract options and with a pay as you go deal too. Vodafone have the phone listed as available to buy and the handset is free with their £26 a month, 24 month contract.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen O2 offer the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc at a fantastic price and hopefully it won’t be the last. O2 have put the Xperia Arc on their “flash sale” which takes place over weekends.
Unfortunately the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc isn’t free on their cheapest package like last time which includes 50 minutes. It is however available for free if you take out the next contract up which includes 100 minutes and is more in line with what most consumers are using any way. The 100 minute a month tariff is £15.50 a month but, you must take out a data bolt on with the plan which starts at £3 per month for 100MB. The bolt on is changable on a month to month basis, so you could upgrade it to 500MB for £6 or 1GB for £10. Likewise you can also downgrade the bolt on or remove it altogether.
The O2 flash sale ends August 1st. Also, if you purchase the handset through O2, you will get exclusive Cowboys and Aliens content, as well as two cinema tickets and the chance to win a VIP trip to Arizona.
