Sony Ericsson have released three different experience packs, which are compatible with the Xperia range of handsets. The three packs are officially known as XP110, XP120 and XP130 but, have also been named the fitness experience pack, business experience pack and the design experience pack.
As the names suggest, the contents of the pack match the sort of experience you will get with the pack. In the Fitness pack, the Sony Ericsson LiveView device is the main product. Also included in the pack is a wristband and clip and the SportyPal Pro Android App. While the app and Live View will work on all the Android Xperia models, the wristband is only designed for the X10 Mini and Mini Pro.
The business pack is however compatible with all the Android Xperia models, including the X8, or any Android powered handset. Included in the pack is a lifetime license for Office Suite Pro and a 6 month license for WaveSecure. Also included is a VH700 bluetooth headset and micro USB charging cable.
The design pack has been designed for the X10 Mini. The fashion covers we recently saw for the X10 Mini in the UK are also available in this pack. As well as the three back plate covers, in the pack charms are included, as well as lanyards, style wallpapers and three apps, consisting of Celebrity Gossip, Chip Chick and Fashion News.
The experience packs appear to be available in Singapore and parts of Europe. Pricing is currently unknown however, it is expected that each pack will be a different price, based on the contents of the pack.

With Android 2.1 well under way on the Xperia X10, Sony Ericsson have finally released their Live View product, which allows you to see what’s going on at a glance. The small bluetooth device can be paired with your phone and worn on your jacket, wrist, or let out on the table taking up less space than your handset. The device will allow you to see what calls you’ve had on your phone, along with messages.

In the UK, the device is retailing for £49.99-£69.99 and can be ordered from various retailers, including the Sony Ericsson Store and Play.com. For a limited time, Sony Ericsson are offering customers the chance to purchase Live View for 20% off the retail price by using the code “SELV3″. Sony Ericsson however, are selling LiveView for £59.98, or £47.98 after the 20% discount, this doesn’t include the £3.50 postage though, so third party retailers, such as Play, may be the better option as they are selling it for £49.99 with free postage.

The device can only be used with devices running Android 2.0 and above, so if your carrier hasn’t approved or released the Android 2.1 update for your X10, you unfortunately, won’t be able to make use of the device just yet.

To some, the latest Bluetooth accessory for your Android handset will seem pointless, to others it’ll be considered a gadget that is long overdue. The Sony Ericsson LiveView features a 1.3 inch touch screen display that acts as a remote control for your handset.

LiveView connects with your Android powered device, through an app which can be downloaded. Once installed, LiveView will mirror the activity on your phone, allowing you to check messages, calls, calendar events and even control your music, or view Facebook or Twitter updates, all without taking your phone out of your pocket. The device features a 1.3 inch display, with a pixel resolution of 128×128. There are four touch sensitive points on the LiveView touchscreen, as well as two physical buttons for power and menu selection. The battery should last for around 4 days and can be charged via the Micro USB port it has.

Sony Ericsson are to release the LiveView accessory sometime later this year after the Android 2.1 update has landed for the range of Xperia handsets, as LiveView does require Android 2.0 and above. Take a look at the photos after the jump and the video to get a better idea of the size of LiveView. Read the rest of this entry »

Did you ever wondered why the Xperia X1 keeps on getting low signal/reception? Try removing your unit’s battery cover for a few seconds and watch as your Xperia X1 gets an extra bar or two.  Now, while this could be solve by finding a plastic battery cover (if you’re lucky to find one) another issue with the Xperia X1 which hampers its signal reception has something to do with its antenna.

The Xperia X1′s antenna is covered by thick rubberized plastic coating which weakens its capability to get full reception. How to solve that?  Take a deep breath and whitesites blog’s method of  increasing the Xperia X1′s antenna.

Basically all you need to do is to pull out the antenna module, open it up and scrappe off the rubber coating using a cutter blade. Once done, you can now put the antenna module back and enjoy your Xperia X1 with great signal/reception strength.

Check out the Whitesite’s blog for photos of the actual tinkering with the Xperia X1 antenna.

While some countries have been able to get hold of Sony Ericcson’s Windows Mobile smartphone, the Xperia X1 for quite some time now, Korean’s haven’t been as lucky. The Xperia X1 will finally launch in Korea next week. The X1 isn’t the only phone not to hit Korea soon after European and US release, the Touch Diamond from HTC only made it’s way to Korea last week and not the newest HTC Diamond either.

The lack of non Korean smartphones is set to change from April when the WiPi restriction ends. While this is good news, it will mean year old smartphones, like the HTC Touch Diamond, should become available. I’m sure many wish this happened sooner though, especially with missing out on such great devices like the X1, for quite some time.

If you’ve been experiencing problems with your X1′s bluetooth recently, it seems you’re not alone. Brandon from PocketNow has reported that the bluetooth on the X1, will randomly turn it self off and isn’t staying connected to other bluetooth devices. Many are waiting for a fix from Sony Ericsson, but in the mean time, an XDA developers forum member, scar45 has provided his own fix for this problem.

To temporarily solve the problem, he’s written a MortScript which checks the status of the bluetooth every x minutes. If it finds the bluetooth off, it will turn the bluetooth back on. You can download his fix and instructions here.
