It’s not long now until Sony hold their press conference at CES but, here’s another tidbit to keep you going. Pictures have emerged of the Sony Ericsson Xperia MT27i, aka Xperia Pepper. The Xperia Pepper is dubbed to be a successor to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V. Rumoured specifications include a 3.7 inch display, like the Neo and Neo V, a 1GHz dual core processor and a 5 megapixel camera. The original Neo launched with an 8 megapixel camera, while the Neo V included a 5 megapixel camera.

The Xperia MT27i looks quite similar to the Nozomi which we’ve seen but, with the black and silver two toned design, to some the handset is reminiscent of the Sony Ericsson T610. If this was intentional, it would seem very fitting as it’s possible that the handsets that will be officially announced today, could be the last phones to carry the Sony Ericsson branding.

Ahead of Sony’s press conference later today at CES, ITProPortal have received some hands on photos of the Sony Ericsson Xperia LT26i, aka Nozomi. The images were sent from a trusted source and also included some benchmark results.
The benchmark results give us some more information about the handset and confirm some of the rumored specifications. One such detail is that the LT26i features a HD screen with a resolution of 720×1280 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 1.5GHz processor. The processor is dual core but, the screen shots only show the one core in use.
Also confirmed is a 12 megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal memory and Android 2.3.7. Unfortunately there is no microSD support which limits the storage options and in turn, if there is a 16GB or 32GB Nozomi model, will increase the prices of such handsets, more than buying a micro SD card separately. Also confirmed is a microSIM slot. Currently the Apple iPhone 4 and 4S support MicroSIMs, along with the Nokia Lumia 800 and Motorola Razr.

CES is taking place in Las Vegas this week and Sony are holding an event today at 5pm GMT. At the event, Sony are dubbed to announce not just one new Xperia model but, several. The most likely handset to be announced is the Sony Ericsson Nozomi, which is also known as the Xperia Arc HD, or LT26i.
How many models Sony will announce though, is currently unknown. As is whether it will be a Sony Ericsson announcement or, just a Sony announcement as the company bought Ericsson out of the joint venture a couple of months back. Leaked photos we’ve seen of handsets suggest that the handsets will still carry they Sony Ericsson branding.

Shortly after the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc was released, a few users reported problems with the chassis on the handset, namely a crack above the Sony Ericsson writing. The crack appears near the proximity sensor and shortly after this was discovered, the Xperia Arc S was announced which, many thought would solve this problem. However, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S users are also finding the same happening on the upgraded Arc S handset.
The problem on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S seems less widespread than that of the original Arc but, this could be due to several reasons. Firstly Sony Ericsson may have strengthened the chassis on the Arc S but, secondly there are probably more Arc owners than Arc S owners right now and the original Arc has been out for a longer time for the fault to appear.

Have you found this on your Arc S? Let us know in the comments.

Following on from the leaked pictures of Sony Ericsson’s Nozomi, dubbed to be the company’s 2012 Xperia flagship handset, images of another Xperia handset have also been leaked. This time the photos come in the form of the LT22i, codenamed Nypon. The LT22i features a very similar design to that of the Nozomi but, one of the differences is that it features a slightly smaller display at 4 inches. It’s believed that the Nypon will have a 540×960 resolution display but, this is hardly noticeable by photos alone. What is differential however, is that the Nypon has a front facing camera on the left side, where as the Nozomi shows a front facing camera on the right side. The Sony Ericsson logo is also in a different place. On the Nozomi the Sony Ericsson branding was above the earpiece, while on the Nypon it sits below the earpiece.
Other rumors point to the back of the phone being aluminium and curved, while the front “chin” is apparently a removable cap, which is available in different colors. Hopefully there will be clips that match the color of the phone as well.

Several photos have appeared of what is dubbed to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc successor. The handset, codenamed Nozomi looks quite similar to the current Android flagship handset from Sony Ericsson. The Nozomi is also known as the Xperia Arc HD, with the model number listed as being LT26i.
Sony Ericsson have included a cover for the micro USB slot this time which is located on the left side of the handset, while the right side of the LT26i has a HDMI slot, also with a cover. There is a reasonably sized camera button, which is great news for those who found the camera button on the Xperia Arc too small, which was a common complaint among users.
The handset is rumoured to feature a 1.5GHz dual core processor, which will be the first Xperia handset to feature dual core. The Nozomi is also rumoured to feature a 12 megapixel camera, which hasn’t been seen on a Sony Ericsson phone since the Symbian powered Satio, which took fantastic photos but, was let down by the software. Other rumoured specifications include a 4.3″ display with a 720×1080 resolution, 16 or 32GB internal memory, with no microSD slot, 1GB of RAM, a sealed battery and a micro-SIM slot.

Rockstar have released GTA III onto the Android Market and it was previously thought that the game would not support the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play’s keypad controls. However several users have reported that the game does support the Play’s touchpad controls, which is a huge bonus and advantage to Xperia Play owners looking to play this game.
GTA III is available on the Android Market for £3.23 and requires a further download of 440MB, much like other Xperia Play only games. We have a video below showing the game working with the Xperia Play after the jump. At the moment, GTA III is only supported by selected devices, with more being added in an update. One device which currently isn’t compatible with the game, is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc unfortunately but, Rockstar should hopefully add support for the Arc soon. Read the rest of this entry »
