Matt from Tracy and Matt, received his “Customer & Journalist” Xperia X1 a few days ago and has since written a short review up as well as answering some common X1 questions.

A C&J model contains the final spec and hardware won’t be changed for the final retail version. The ROM build could vary slightly though between the retail version.

The questions asked varied from what the in-call sound quality was like, to how the control touch pad feels and reacts, as well as if a sample video taken with the Xperia camera could be posted and if the Google panel has an offline mode.

The in-call sound is described as “ok” with the speaker providing plenty of volume without the use of maximum volume. While the joystick is found to be awkward to use but responsive enough, with Matt preferring the regular d-pad.

Google panels can only be used online as when linking to Google Maps, Mail or Calendar the X1 connects to the internet. You can see a sample video from the X1 here.
