Still your first Xperia?

It’s come to my attention, that quite a few Xperia X1s are being sent in for repairs. We previously reported on an issue which affected the black model. The casing around the battery, stylus slot and other areas becomes cracked. Quite a few of our users commented on the story, saying it had happened to them and what could be done about it. While Sony Ericsson haven’t released any official word themselves, a user from the Xperia X1 forums explains they’ve got the same issue as well. But not only that, it’s taconite2′s seventh replacement Xperia, which he received in January. What were wrong with the others he doesn’t say, but explains the cracked case issue is what’s wrong with his current X1.
For taconite2, he took it to get repaired, which other readers who have the same issue, should also be able to do. While there, the guy at the store explained that they’d taken in 14 of the handsets they’d sold, to get repaired. In the case of this store, they’d only sold 20, so over half were returned for repair. So, are you still on your first Xperia X1?

Yeah, I am still on my first XPERIA. Bought it November of last year, a black model, and I’ve not developed any sort of a crack anywhere in the unit.
The only problems I’ve had with it are the black metal casing that sits over the battery has started to show definite signs of its black colouring wearing off in quite a number of places (which sucks), and the actual screen part itself (the top half of the sliding mechanism) has got more than a little give in it when the unit is closed (which also sucks).
While neither of these are deal breakers, it does kinda make me down that after spending so much money on this device, the build quality wasn’t more up to scratch.
Oh well. Unless the X2 is significantly cheaper than the X1, I am probably going to be switching to a HTC WinMob 6.5 device come this Christmas. The sad part is that this will mean my 5 year association with Sony Ericsson will have come to a close. :(
I am on my first Xperia too. I bought it last December and has been flawless since then. The paint on the metal battery cover is wearing off but I kinda like it this way, shows its age and use.
i am still on my 1st xperia and there is no crack or colour wearing off or anything what so ever.. i love my phone.. se rules!
it’s my first xperia, but this doesn’t mean that i had no problems with it. indeed the case cracked right below the volume control on the right side of the phone. i glued it myself, it’s okay now. but it’s not okay that sony ericsson or htc or whoever use such a cheap material. i think they should do it like apple does: one or two single case parts, out of one single material. on my x1 there’s the metal case part on the front, one plastic ring around the phone on the side, one plastic part on the back and the battery cover out of metal. it’s all silver, but every single part has a different silver. terrible!
I’m on my first, but three months in cracks have started to appear in the top and it’s definitely through my recent heavy use of the headset.
Problem now is that the headset connector can sometimes think that the headset is connected when it’s not – this means no phone calls – so I have to use a pencil or something to wiggle it and make sure it switches off.
Sending off for a fix next week.
I’m waiting for my Xperia…it is in repair at the moment for cracks in the covers
and the silver that’s came of the phone :s
I believe i’m not the only one…on Dutch fora it’s a big issue….
Most of the sold Xperia’s have cracks in a few months.
I was in my first xperia.. :p not any more.. just cracked near the battery.. everything else is just perfect, well the batery cover have quite a few scratches..
Bought it in November when it was released here in Portugal..
btw its a black one, never even saw a silver one live..
Im on my second xperia, and it has just broke. i love this phone but i feel like it has a really weak build. i got my first xperia mid april, and by the end of may, it had broken. the first time the screen went blank and didnt work, so i sent it off to 02, and got a brand new one, and now on my second one, the touch screen isnt responding at all.. ive had it for around about 2 months.
anyone else finding similar problems with the screen?
Hye,
The phone is very nice no doubt, but I have a new problem. It shows the headphone is connected which is not, I tried rebooting thrice…. Putting the jackpin again and taking it out…. But its not working, I can talk only when I have headset in….Cant talk when headphone is not connected. Any suggestion?
after using my xperia for all of 20 some odd days, the screen cracked under completely normal use. the crack extends all the way across the screen and there is a focal point where it looks like a point of impact.
Strangely I cannot feel the damage with my fingers, and the glass appears to be completely intact. Either that or there is another glass underneath which has cracked?Nevertheless, the screen remains completely responsive to touch which has me even more baffled… shouldn’t the tactile part be more sensitive than the glass, and thus damaged if the glass breaks?? Indeed no part of the screen has lost any tactile input whatsoever.
The phone remains to function well in all aspects, but just looks completely cracked. Anyone else experience this? I cannot believe that such a top of the line phone would crack so easily.
On my first X1 but the first second day, I dropped it which gave it some dent but i am ok with that. Just last night barely 3 months of buying it, It fell from my bedside table while charging it and the screen cracked as if it is a cheap drinking glass. This is sad and pathetic because the table is only about 2 feet from the ground. Considering the number of times my P990 fell and the price of the X1, it is just unacceptable quality. After calling tech support, I have to send it in for $185 repair which would take 10 days after they get it. And i have to pay for shipping too.
Hey i am on my first X1 but i have the same problems anyone has any idea to get it sorted

im am on my first experia but not that i use it because i cant, about a month after i bought it on contract for 45 month-18mnths the screen gave in when i flip the keyboard out, i had only fliped it out a max of about 200-300 times tops during this first month,, this phone that costs me a bomb, is the worst mobile i have ever had , i had not droped it or anything the thing is simply broken and i put that down to shody manefacturing, and this phone was obviously not rigeusly tested before its first realease date …… i have tried to ask for a repair when i took it back to my dealers (phones for you) they wanted nothing to do with it and washed there hands with me ! this is simply unexceptable , i am now stuck in a contract for a phone that does not even work ! i have been paying 45 pounds a month for over a year now for nothing.. i am appaled. As a result i demand a full refund or a new phone for the finacial damages that have been put forward to me on behalf of your company. if i do not recieve an email back asap, i have been advised by my lawers, to take legal action. regards Alex

Lots of thanks for posting this, I’ve been looking into this on bing. I’ve been comparing opinions from many persons, rather than an organization web page, that’s why I like blogs so much. Many thanks!
Hey nice blog, simply looking round some sites, appears a a very nice theme you are using. I’m presently using Drupal for a few of my sites but seeking to change one of them over to a platform very much like yours as a test site.
