We recently announced that the Xperia X10 would be released in April in the UK on Vodafone. We now know that the handset will also be launching in April in Germany. The handset will launch on T-Mobile there. Pricing information is unknown at the moment. The handset will support quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and triband UMTS/HSPDA/HSUPA at 900/1700/2100.
Hopefully we’ll be able to confirm release dates of other countries soon along with pricing information.

Over in Germany, HTC have lost a patent violation suit to IPCom GmbH. IPCom are claiming that some UMTS patents found in several of HTC’s phones have been infringed and are wanting HTC to pay license fees for these patents. There is no word on if the HTC developed Xperia X1 also infringes on this patent yet, but with both the G1 and HTC Magic both being named as example phones, there is a chance it could affect the X1 as well. If an agreement between the two companies isn’t arranged, HTC could be forced to stop selling UMTS smartphones in Germany.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is now available in Germany on the O2 network. The X1 will be available on a contract or as a pre-pay phone. A pre-pay Xperia X1 is available for 619,99 Euros or on contract for 349,99 Euros. The contract is for 24 months costing 30 Euros per month.
The X1 will be available from T-Mobile and Vodafone D2 later on this year, hopefully with a more consumer friendly contract.
