The past month has seen Sony come under attack from hackers, which resulted in personal details being taken and the gaming PlayStation Network taken offline. Over the past week other companies have also seen hacking attacks including Sony Ericsson website.

The Canadian Sony Ericsson online store has been taken offline temporarily following an attack on the site. Details of more than 2000 customers were extracted during the intrusion however, Sony Ericsson claim the passwords were encrypted and credit card details were not taken and hence may not be as big a catastrophe as it could have been for the company.  None the less, Sony Ericsson have taken the store offline until further notice.

It appears that the UK has varying release dates for the recently announced Xperia X2. UK retailer Expansys, as we’ve previously reported, has the Xperia X2 available for pre-order with an expected release date of January 11th 2010. However on the Official Sony Ericsson Store website, it’s possible to pre-register your interest in the handset, with further information to follow when it becomes available. The site lists the X2 as being released in October. Not only that, but the website says the handset will be exclusive to Vodafone. So if you’re not with Vodafone UK, perhaps it’s time to start thinking about changing when the Xperia X2 is released.
