One of the main reasons consumers have been wanting Sony Ericsson to update the Xperia range of handsets with Android 2.2, is due to the flash support. Many wanted the company to skip Android 2.1 and move directly to 2.2 as it brings more features. One of these features being flash support, in the form of the Adobe Flash Player application from the Market. Unfortunately, due to the lack of multi touch, flash will not be supported on the Xperia X10. This was revealed in a new white paper from the company.

The same white paper, also says that the display for the X10 will remain at 65,536 colors after the device is updated to Android 2.1. 16m color support may however be included in the Android 2.1x update but, it’s not known for now. Ironically though the Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro both have 16m color displays.

If the recently released tweaks for the Xperia X1 converted version of TouchFlo 3D 2 didn’t tempt you into using it, then perhaps the ability to have a panoramic background will. Or if you’re already using it, this is a great add on for the app.

Rotastrain over at XDA-Developers has created a cab file that allows TouchFlo 3D to use a panoramic background in it’s interface, which you can download here. He’s also created a small guide on how you can use your own panoramic picture for the background if the default one isn’t to your liking, or you grow bored of backgrounds easily.

Currently a lot of users are using it and are impressed with it. The only downside reported is that it doesn’t work as well in landscape mode as it does in portrait, but hopefully this is just the first release of many. You can view the app in action on the X1 below.

Paul has installed TouchFlo 3D on the Xperia X1. TouchFlo is more commonly found on the HTC Touch Diamond, Pro and HD.

There’s mixed reactions on why you’d want to do this on the Xperia X1, but if you’d like to try it, Russ at MobileTechAddicts confirms that the panels will still work. Files can be downloaded from XDA Developers.

Paul’s also made a video demoing TouchFlo 3D on the X1 which you can view after the jump.
