The Sony Xperia S has already launched in the UK and is the first handset from Sony since their split from Ericsson. The Xperia S is the first of the Xperia NXT handsets. The Xperia P and Xperia U will also make their debut this month into the UK mobile market.

The Xperia P and Xperia U are slated for a May 28th release according to online UK retailer Clove. The retailer has both handsets available to pre-order with the Xperia P priced at £330 and the Xperia U listed for £204, both handsets coming sim unlocked.

The budget Xperia U features a 3.5 inch display, 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities as well as being able to take 3D images. The Xperia P on the other hand features a 4 inch display, 8 megapixel camera, 1GHz dual core processor and 16GB of internal memory. Sony have also included NFC technology in the Xperia P which is present on the Xperia S.

Both the Xperia P and Xperia U will ship with Android 2.3 out of the box but, an update to Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich is planned within the coming months.

It wasn’t that long ago that we heard the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was reduced down to an incredible price of £200. The news keeps getting better for those looking at buying an Xperia Play. Argos have reduced the price of the PlayStation certified mobile phone to just £180. The only bad news however, is that Argos currently don’t have any of the handsets available for in store collection, or home delivery. You can however sign up to be notified when the Sony Ericsson gaming phone comes back in stock with Argos.

We recently reported that UK online retailer Clove had put up an expected release date for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro. The date listed was October 17th. However at the time, this wasn’t confirmed and with so many delays already for the handset, it could have been quite possible that the Xperia Pro would be delayed again.

Clove however have now confirmed a UK release date for the handset and it hasn’t been delayed any further. Instead, the release date has actually been brought forward. Clove were informed that they would receive stock of the Xperia Pro on 6th October. Previously there wasn’t any pricing information on the handset but, Clove now has the phone listed at £322.80 including VAT, which is the same price as they are selling the similarly specced Xperia Neo.

After many delays, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is now available to purchase. The handset was supposed to be released back in April at the same time as the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play. However due to the earthquake in Japan there were parts shortages which in turn has caused the delay of the Xperia Neo release. This has also affected the release of the Xperia Pro which, is still yet to be released.

A number of retailers in the UK are selling the handset and pricing ranges from £322.80 via Clove to £354.99 through Amazon. The handset is available in midnight blue. Vodafone have also begun selling the Xperia Neo and as well as the midnight blue model, Vodafone are also selling the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo in red.

Sony Ericsson were a bit premature by releasing information regarding the Android 2.3 update for the Xperia X10 on their website. We saw a message appear saying that the update was now available for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, when in fact it wasn’t. However the release was, as they promised imminent. The release of Android 2.3.3 with Facebook inside Xperia is now rolling out for the X10, for real this time.

Like previous updates from Sony Ericsson, the update is being rolled out in phases, a few European countries have confirmed that the update is available, including the UK. The update is available initially for unbranded handsets and hopefully network providers will also begin rolling out the update but, what networks which will do this is currently unknown unfortunately.

If the Carphone Warehouse’s estimate is correct, we could see the launch of the recently announced Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray in the UK in a little over a month. According to the Carphone Warehouse, the Xperia Ray will be released in the UK in September. For those interested in the handset, you can register your interest with Carphone Warehouse to receive updates about the release of the handset and possibly pricing information as well.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray manages to fit most of the Xperia Arc features into it’s smaller chassis. With the Xperia Ray, you will get the same great 8 megapixel camera as on the Arc, as well as the Mobile Bravia Engine Display. The difference between the Ray and the Arc however, is the Ray has a smaller screen and is there fore a smaller handset. Despite this, the Xperia Ray manages to pack in a front facing camera. The LED light for the back camera has also been replaced with a lesser powered photo light.

Like most networks, they will offer the handset on a variety of tariffs and with the option of an 18 month contract, or a 24 month contract.

For £40.85 a month in a two year contract, you can pick the handset up for free. This tariff will give you 1200 minutes, 1GB of mobile internet and unlimited texts.

While the Xperia Arc and Play were released on time, albeit some delays with some networks, the Xperia Duo was unfortunately delayed. The Xperia Neo features the majority of the features of the Arc, such as the Mobile Bravia display and 8 megapixel camera but, is designed similarly to the Xperia Play but, smaller.

Clove and ExpansysUK have both put a date on the release of the handset as well as pricing information. Clove have the best offer for the handset with it priced at £358.50 with a release date of April 19th. Expansys on the other hand, have the Xperia Duo priced higher at £429.99, which is even more than the Xperia Arc. Their release date is also a day later, April 20th. While it has been priced and dated, both sites give conflicting information but, the price and date is subject to change.

The Xperia Play is proving to be one of the most talked about handsets around the web, even more so than the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc which is due to be released around the same time as the Play. Part of the hype surrounding the Xperia Play is not due to it being the first true gaming phone but, because it’s the first PlayStation certified phone and despite it not being called the PlayStation phone, many fans from around the world are still calling it this. For good reason too, we heard yesterday that the handset would come with 6 games preinstalled upon launch, one being a classic PSone game. Other PSone games will also be available on the handset at launch and over time.

To celebrate the release of the handset, Sony Ericsson UK are holding a launch event for the handset. The event is due to take place March 31st in Central London. The exact location is unknown at the moment but, Sony Ericsson promise further details will come shortly. They have revealed though, that the event is open to everyone and tickets aren’t needed. The event will take place between 9am and 5pm and you’re free to pop in any time during that, to get your hands on the Xperia Play and have a play around with it.

Despite the handset not even being released to the public yet, the Xperia Play from Sony Ericsson has already made it’s way onto eBay, both in the US and the UK. While there are a few pre-order listings on eBay a few sellers already have the handset in their hands and ready to ship.

All of the sellers appear to have won theirs at the GDC conference. A recent eBay UK listing ended at £460, less than the retail value, however folks selling in the US are doing considerably better. One of the first listings for the Play in the US ended for $930, while another listing that is still active is currently at $1,525. With 3 hours still left to go this price could increase even further, as has already happened to another listing. A third listing which ends tomorrow shows retail packing of the Xperia Play and is proving to be very popular, as the bidding has already reached $2,025.

The Xperia Play is due to be released March 31st in the UK but, a US release date hasn’t been set yet but, it is likely to arrive sometime in April.
