UK retailer Carphone Warehouse have an exclusive offer on the Xperia S this week. Normally the handset from Sony is available for free on a £26 a month contract with Vodafone. Until May 24th however, they have lowered the minimum tariff down to £20.50 a month. Taking out a 24 month contract on the £20.50 Vodafone plan will bag you the Sony Xperia S for free. That £20.50 a month will give you 100 minutes, 250MB mobile data and 500 texts. Admittedly not a great amount of allowances but, for phone fans who rarely use their handsets as an actual phone, it’s a relatively good price.

The offer is available online and in store, so no need to wait around for them to deliver it, as may be the case with other retailers who have similar, or perhaps an even better deal. As is the case with Tesco Phone shop. If you’re willing to wait for delivery of the handset, you can pick up a £21.50 a month deal on O2 through the Tesco phone shop, which again will bag you a free Xperia S. The extra £1 a month gives you twice as many minutes and data, as well as unlimited texts. With O2 you can also adjust the data allowance, with the basics starting at 100MB a month, or increase the allowance to 1GB for an extra £4 a month.

Like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, the X10 Mini may not be every one’s cup of tea but, if you’re looking for a gift for someone who’s new to Android, or after a cheap phone to keep you going then this is a deal not to be sniffed at. Currently online phone retailer Mobiles.co.uk have refurbished Xperia X10 Mini handsets in stock. By refurbished, Mobiles mean that the handset was returned to them within 7 days of purchase and have been fully inspected. As expected, the handset comes with a full 12 month warranty.

Mobiles have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 available for £49.90 with a £10 top up. You can choose from Vodafone, O2 or Orange but, regardless of the network chosen, phones from Mobiles.co.uk come unlocked as standard. Despite requiring a £10 top up, the total price of £59.90 is still a bargain price for the phone.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray has now been launched in Australia and is an exclusive to Vodafone. The Xperia Ray is available for $5 AU per month when taking out the company’s Infinite Plan at $45 AU a month.

Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited apps are included on the handset. Australian companies Hopscotch and Madman will add to the list of movies already available on Video unlimited with their distributable movies. However both require an additional monthly fee despite being bundled with the handset. The Music unlimited software is $4.99 AU for the basic plan, or $12.99 AU for the premium plan.

The “in the box” details list the phone as coming with a stereo headset which, unfortunately sounds like LiveSound isn’t bundled with the Xperia Ray in Australia, like we’ve seen in the UK.

If you’ve been looking at getting Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Ray which has recently gone on sale in the UK, here’s an offer that’s sure to interest you, whether you’re looking to get the handset sim free or on a contract. Through Mobiles you can grab the Xperia Ray on Talk Mobile for free on a 12 month contract. The monthly price of the contract is £25 a month, which over the 12 months would equate to £300, the same price as the handset is sim free. As it is through Mobiles, the handset you receive would also be sim free and unlocked rather than having any network branding.

The £25 a month tariff includes 1GB of internet data, 300 minutes and 1000 texts. Talk Mobile is Carphone Warehouse’s own brand network and is hosted on Vodafone’s network. Going directly through Talk Mobile for the Xperia Ray only brings up 24 month contracts with the lowest being £18 a month but, working out at over £400 for the life of the contract.

The listing on the O2 website itself shows the Xperia Ray as in stock and it is available to buy on the network if purchasers go through third party sellers such as the Tesco phone shop.
In the UK, it’s not long until the Xperia Neo is released, hopefully any way. Vodafone have added the Xperia Neo to their list of coming soon handsets but, only the red version. Vodafone will be the exclusive retailer in the UK for the red version and should also be selling the blue version which the other UK networks will be selling. For now though, Vodafone only have the coming soon page available for the red model. You can register for updates so that you’ll be notified when the handset is available to order. Whether you’re interested in the red version or not, registering for updates should give you an idea of when the Neo is coming to the UK regardless of network or color.

The Xperia Play is about to be launched in yet another country, this time round it’s Australia. The first PlayStation certified handset will arrive on Australian shores June 8th on Telstra and Optus. There’s no information on when the handset will be released on Vodafone though at the moment. According to Lifehacker, Vodafone are conducting network tests on the handset, so availability information will become available at a later date.

Six games will come preinstalled on the handset: Madden NFL 11, The Sims 3, FIFA 10, Star Battalion, Bruce Lee and the PlayStation One classic, Crash Bandicoot. Pricing from Optus will be free when taking out a AU$79 a month contract spanning two years or AU$5 a month on a AU$59 plan. Also if you purchase the Xperia Play before July 30th, you will also get three Gameloft game downloads for free.

Telstra on the other hand, will offer the handset for AU$20 per month on the AU$79 Freedom Connect Plan.

Those who pre-ordered the Xperia Arc or Play on Vodafone will, unfortunately have to wait a bit longer till they get their hands on Sony Ericsson’s latest handsets it seems. Vodafone have announced that they are experiencing stock issues with both the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play. Sony Ericsson were unable to meet the demand for the devices due to freight issues and so they are working with Vodafone to ensure handsets are delivered as soon as possible. A specific timescale is as of yet unknown though.

Likewise, Three are also experiencing the same issues, with the Xperia Play at least. The earliest expected delivery date for the Xperia Play with Three is Friday 15th April, although this has already changed from April 8th.

O2 on the other hand, haven’t announced any problems with stock but, are delaying the handset. According to the O2 blog, while testing the handset, they’ve found several bugs in the software which affect the Xperia Play’s usability as both a gaming device and as a phone. O2 are the only network to have suggested there are problems with the software, leading many to believe it may be down to O2′s own firmware on top of the Sony Ericsson firmware.

Despite the handsets not being available through Vodafone or Three, many customers have managed to still acquire the Play or Arc through third party retailers such as Phones4U or Carphone warehouse, who have some handsets in stock. The stock given to Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse is unbranded so for those who can’t wait to get their hands on Sony Ericsson’s next Xperia handsets, may be better off going through a third party retailer any way, as network branded handsets have had their problems in the past, specifically with Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 and it’s software updates.

While Vodafone and O2 can’t offer the Xperia X10 Mini in lime green, they are however offering the handset up for free. Neither the Vodafone or O2 website state which color X10 they have in stock but, it appears to be the basic black model. Both networks are offering the handset up for free on 18 or 24 month contracts from as little as £20 a month. The other major UK network T-Mobile is yet to offer the handset and there’s no mention on their website of the X10 Mini. They do however have the X10 Mini Pro listed, which is set for a July release. While there’s no sign of the QWERTY-less Mini X10 on T-Mobile, the other networks don’t have any information regarding the X10 Mini Pro, so it looks like the X10 Mini Pro, could be a T-Mobile exclusive.

If however you were after the X10 Mini on T-Mobile, all is not lost. Third party retailers, such as Mobiles.co.uk have the handsets in stock and they dispatch unlocked handsets, with the X10 Mini being no exception. Because of this, they can offer the handset on the networks it is available on, along with T-Mobile and Three.
