Having been an avid user of Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones, I’m already used to their fondness for coming up with “i” versions of the mobile phone units. It seems like Sony Ericsson is not over yet with that fetish even for its highly anticipated smartphone Xperia X1.

So while, some European countries have already had their taste of the Xperia’s first version called the Xperia X1i, Sony Ericsson is set to release the Xperia X1 in the US, Latin America and Australia sometime soon, donning the model name Xperia X1a.

Don’t worry though, because the difference between the two Xperias were not really significant aside from their network configurations. The Xperia X1a will be capable of shooting videos at 24fps as opposed to the Xperia X1i’s 30 fps capability.

While for those who have seen the two Xperias and noticed some difference in its keyboard, well words on the streets say that it was not really a special feature but more of confirming to regional standards. Whereas the UK uses a full QWERTY keyboard, Germany uses the QWERTZ while France call it AERTY. No difference in functionality though.

In a bit of similarities between the two Xperia models, both will feature front facing cameras, probably to enable video calling over 3G network.
