It seems like a while since we had Xperia X2 news to share however, apps developer Brosvision have just posted up their new social panel that has been built specifically for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2.

Featuring custom launch icons, status updates, auto feed refresh and 3 colour schemes, the SocialLive panel brings Facebook feeds including videos and photos direct to your X2 handset’s homescreen and is available as a free download from the Brosvision site.

The Xperia X8 is listed as ‘Coming Soon: September’ on the O2 website which is great news for those of us that are waiting impatiently for the X8’s release. The exact date in September is still unconfirmed however.

Features include:

The X8 will also come with exchangeable covers included in the box in white and aqua blue and will feature Google Android 1.6 which should be upgradable around the time of release to either version 2.1 or 2.2, whichever Sony Ericsson decide to release first to update their current range of Android powered handsets.

Sure, there are a lot of unboxing videos you can choose from if you go on YouTube and try to look for any, but admit it, it doesn’t get any better than seeing the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova unboxing her new Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphone. OK, maybe she’s not as hot as she could have been in this video, but hey, she looks cute anyway. And that phone in her hand? The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro. She goes over a few of the features she immediately noticed about it and drops a few related comments. Watch the unboxing video embedded above to see for yourself.

Over on the official Sony Ericsson blog, Rikard Skogberg has posted a video demonstration showing the free music streaming service Spotify integrated with the content management systems on the Xperia X10 – namely Timescape and Mediascape and working on the android handset.

Swedish mobile communications operator Telia had asked Sony Ericsson to test out the integration between Spotify, also a Swedish company and the X10 in the hope of bringing another service to it’s users and as Skogberg stated, will be presented on the Xperia X10 in the following way:

“The integration makes Spotify appear as an online music service in Mediascape and songs played through Spotify shows up as event tiles in Timescape”

Demo video:

It is expected that the service will be available in the UK at some point however, it isn’t yet clear whether users would need to own a premium package of Spotify to use the service as Spotify curently only offer a mobile version of their services for those who have purchased the premium package which runs out at £10 a month in the UK. There are no further details available yet on release dates for the service. More information is bound to follow though as Spotify integration could be very popular on the Xperia X10.

Coming soon to the Orange network is an exclusive version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 smartphone. There won’t be any exciting hardware changes on the handset, the exclusivity is purely down to the color of the X10 – it will be available in both black and white in the UK from Orange. The white version will only be available to Orange customers with none of the other service providers offering anything other than the black handset.

Which would you choose given the option? The standard and smart looking black X10 or the less ‘common’ and still stylish white version? Here are some pictures to help you decide:

The Mini X10, which was codenamed Robyn, appears to have been renamed to Recall. Rumors are rife that Sony Ericsson will announce Recall at the Mobile World Congress next month. Sony Ericsson are also likely to announce Abelin there, which could well be the Xperia X9. Albein will feature a QWERTY keyboard and resemble the BlackBerry. Like the X10 and Recall, Albein will also run on Android. Albein will also feature a 5 megapixel camera, like the X10 mini. Other information on specs are not known yet, nor are they any images of Albein in circulation.

Yesterday we reported that UK online retailer Play.com had listed the Xperia X2 up for pre-order with a release date of January 29th. We also found that the X2 page on Vodafone had disappeared and instead returned a page not found error. The reason for this is because, Vodafone UK have dropped the X2.

In an internal email, staff were informed that they would no longer be selling the Xperia X2. Other websites are reporting that the X2 will now not be sold in the UK at all as the X2 was to be exclusive to Vodafone. However Play.com and other websites still have the page up for pre-ordering. Also the X2 was only to be exclusive to Vodafone for a short while. Others are reporting that O2 will stock the handset when it’s released on their network. As of yet though, O2 haven’t confirmed this, so we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that they can bring the handset to the UK subsidized on a contract.
