The Mini X10, which was codenamed Robyn, appears to have been renamed to Recall. Rumors are rife that Sony Ericsson will announce Recall at the Mobile World Congress next month. Sony Ericsson are also likely to announce Abelin there, which could well be the Xperia X9. Albein will feature a QWERTY keyboard and resemble the BlackBerry. Like the X10 and Recall, Albein will also run on Android. Albein will also feature a 5 megapixel camera, like the X10 mini. Other information on specs are not known yet, nor are they any images of Albein in circulation.

Yesterday we reported that UK online retailer Play.com had listed the Xperia X2 up for pre-order with a release date of January 29th. We also found that the X2 page on Vodafone had disappeared and instead returned a page not found error. The reason for this is because, Vodafone UK have dropped the X2.
In an internal email, staff were informed that they would no longer be selling the Xperia X2. Other websites are reporting that the X2 will now not be sold in the UK at all as the X2 was to be exclusive to Vodafone. However Play.com and other websites still have the page up for pre-ordering. Also the X2 was only to be exclusive to Vodafone for a short while. Others are reporting that O2 will stock the handset when it’s released on their network. As of yet though, O2 haven’t confirmed this, so we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that they can bring the handset to the UK subsidized on a contract.

The Xperia X1 and other Windows Mobile devices have, since entering 2010 have received text messages from 2016. A small bug, possibly due to the HEX code, is causing text messages received, to display the date as being 2016 instead of 2010. In HEX, 10 is represented as 16. As of yet, there’s no official fix but, a small unofficial CAB has been released which solves the problem for now. The issue hasn’t been found on T-Mobile handsets.

While the X2 is due for release this month in the UK on Vodafone, their website still shows a coming soon image, with no indication of what kind contract will bag you the handset for free. Fortunately, over at Nirave, they’ve been in contact with someone from Vodafone retail who has provided information on the tariffs available from Vodafone.

The graph below has been compiled from the information provided and hopefully, we’ll see the official Vodafone Retail System showing it soon. As you can see, adding Vodafone Mobile Internet for £5 a month, can make a great difference to the price of the handset. On the 600 minute tariff the handset is going to set you back £150, unless VMI is added, bringing the handset cost down to zero. Prices are reasonable for the handset, if they’re correct anyway. Hopefully this will stay the same when it’s officially unveiled by Vodafone.
It’s also been uncovered that, while the handset will initially launch on Vodafone as an exclusive, within 4 weeks it will also be available on other networks.

The lucky folks over at Mobile Crunch have got hold of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Rachael and taken some “spy pics” to share around. The pictures aren’t the best quality we’ve seen and Into Mobile reports that the snaps were taken with a Motorola RAZR phone. The handset is seen with the standard Android UI instead of the Rachael UI previously seen. While the photos were taken with a lower end camera phone, the lighting in the photos is better than other leaked shots of the handset but, still a bit blurry.

It’s already been rumored that the upcoming Android powered Xperia handset from Sony Ericsson will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon technology. The handset has been captured running what does appear to be Snapdragon. The Acer Liquid also uses this technology, tying both handsets as the fastest Android phones. The model on display is running Android 1.6 but, when the Xperia X3 is released it’s expected to ship with Android 2.0. The handset is also likely to include an improved display over the X1 with a sharper 4 inch touch screen display with a resolution of 852×480.

When we first heard of the Sony Ericsson handset, it was still in it’s codename stage. The handset was called the Idou and described as the Xperia X1’s big brother, before we heard of the upcoming X2 and X3. While it doesn’t feature Windows Mobile, we now know neither does the X3 and so the Satio could fit very well in the Xperia line, if it wasn’t part of the Entertainment Unlimited range. The Satio features a 12 megapixel camera giving homage to it’s CyberShot side yet features impressive Walkman features. The handset will run on Symbian S60 5th edition. It’s available in the UK on Vodafone with other networks to follow. Tariffs above £35 on a 24 month contract have the phone available for free.

Following on from previous concept phones we’ve shown created by loyal Sony Ericsson fans, the Xperia Addiction is the latest Xperia handset concept to hit the blogosphere. Created by Hydro of Esato, from where previous concept handsets have been created, he brings us the Xperia handset which will make you addicted to the Xperia line, if you’re not already.
Hydro’s concept Xperia features a 12 megapixel camera, which is something we’re sure to see in the future from Sony Ericsson in the Xperia line as the technology will be rolled out in Satio. The handset also incorprates BRAVIA TV with a 1080p HD output port. 32GB of memory would be in the handset along with a 1GHz CPU.
Like the Satio, the Xperia Addiction incorporates both the Walkman side and Cybershot side of the family to the handset. Along with the 12mp camera it would also include Xenon Flash and Carl Zeiss optics. On the Walkman side of things, it features Walkman version 4 and a 3.5mm audio port.

Sony Ericsson are planning to release the Xperia Pureness in the UK from November, in time for Christmas. However unlike other mobiles, it’ll be going direct to retail through Selfridges instead of through a network dealer. The lack of features compared to other Xperia handsets will still set you back just as much for the Purenesses transparent display. When the phone launches it will cost a whopping £530 sim free. So while it may be released in time for Christmas, it doesn’t leave all that much time to save up for the handset considering the current economical climate.
