It looks like Sony Ericsson fans from the US who have been eagerly anticipating the release of the US-friendly Xperia X1a will have to look for another mobile device to give themselves as a Christmas gift, as Sony Ericsson, although without official announcement, has changed the expected delivery date of the Xperia X1a from supposedly today to Jan. 12, 2009.
Since Sony Ericsson has not made an official annoucement about the push in the US release of the Xperia X1a, we could only guess that it might have something to do with the lack of supply perhaps. Or perhaps some more feature tweakings needs to be carried out before the mobile device is released to the US market.But I doubt if supply is really lacking, as I’ve seen many stores in Hong Kong displaying the Xperia X1.
Anyway, if the Xperia X1 is one of your Christmas Tech Wish List, I suggest you find a good alternative or wait until January 12, 2009 to see if Sony Ericsson could finally deliver the Xperia X1 to the US market.

Not released in the US?? I got mine from SonyStyle the day before Thanksgiving…I hope I didn’t get an “early lemon”! Anyone know anything?
I also got mine the Monday before thanksgiving and everything is all good thus far..My local Sony store sold out that week. I stopped in on Sat. 12/6 and was told he would have more the week of Christmas..
Actually, this is just from SonyStyle and Best Buy. Expansys will be getting it very soon, and Dell has the X1a in stock – i just ordered mine yesterday (you have to call them). keep in mind that’s for the X1a silver only, not black. You can find the X1a, you just gotta look around ;)
I asked at the sony store below the Sony corporate building in NYC last week. They didn’t have them on the floor, and what the saleswoman told me is they got them but were immediately recalled because of battery issues. She said they got an order from corporate up in the building to take them off the shelves.
Yesterday I went and asked again, and got the same story.
