If you’re the type of Windows Mobile phone users who are fond of flashing your WinMo phones to try out new things, here’s something for you. Windows Mobile 6.5 “beta” ROM running on Xperia X1.

The port was successfully tested by a member of the XDA-Developers Forum and here are some points when he did the process:

• NAM R2AA008 as x1 OEM base
• New 5.2.21159.5.0.0 as 6.5 XIP and SYS base
• I did not alter much in X1 base, I removed opera, soduku, bejewled, google stuff etc.
• Panels are included, such as radio, media, se panel 1&2
• Added my new coctail of drivers (same as 3.5)
• PIE is working, and is translated to WWE, I find the new PIE working great…
• GUI from 6.5…Honeycomb/Chome/Titanium etc

and he also got some notes for all you brave souls who would want to port Windows Mobile 6.5 on your Xperia X1:

• After flashing, at some point when you are aligning the screen and all that, the device will turn black..dont worry..
• just press powerbutton once and it comes back.

But the most important reminder of all, the ROM is for testing purposes only. You may encounter some bugs when you flash your Xperia X1.
