Xperia X10 could stop at Android 2.2
Posted in: Sony Ericsson, Xperia Software, xperia x10, tags: android, android 3.0, gingerbread, ram, x10
If the leaked information regarding Android 3.0 are true, it could mean that the Xperia X10 will never get Android 3.0, aka Gingerbread and will be stuck at Android 2.2 when it’s released for the Xperia X10. On a Russian podcast, Eldar has revealed that the next Android iteration could impose minimum specification requirements. While the X10 meets most of them, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro won’t but, there’s also one spec which the X10 can’t meet. According to Eldar, Android 3.0 will require the handset to have at least 512MB of RAM, where as the Xperia X10 only has 384MB. Other specs needed are a 1GHz processor and a 3.5 inch display. The time frame for Android 3.0 is around mid October, with the first handsets with the 3.0 OS coming November/December. The user interface is said to be revamped and for devices with screens above 4″, a new resolution of 1280×760 will be available. Obviously we hope that the need for 512MB RAM isn’t correct but, we do hope they resolution rumor is.

Xperia X10 will be stuck on 1.6 !! of course 2.1 is on its way but I can picture the KAOS of all the BRICKED X10 users after they fail to upgrade and will demand a new phone or Leave the X10 ” the best phone ” bandwagon… WATCH OUT FOR IT!!
Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I sense strongly about it and love learning more on this subject. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your website with a lot more info? It is really helpful for me.
Hey, discovered your website by accident carrying out a investigation on Google but I?ll definitely be coming again. ? How can I feel in God when only last week I got my tongue caught in the roller of an electric typewriter?
Excellent webpage. I acquired a lot of good knowledge. I?ve been maintaining an eye on this technology for awhile. It is interesting how it keeps shifting, however some of the core parts stay the same.
the saddest thing about this phone is that whatever upgrade you get you still wont get the Multi Touch! I hate SE X10 but i am stuck till my contract ends.
Thank You for this info. I just wanted to buy X10, but now I will go for HTC or Samsung. Soon will come Android 3.0 while X10 still have 1.6. This is sad :(
Yea but ive heard that se is already playing with 3.0 to make it work for the x10 lineup!
on next fw x10 can multi-touch ?
Toni Toca can put his X10 up his *ss. My X10 upgraded just fine. I hate those idiots who know nothing about anything and think a simple upgrade can brick anything. Tsc tsc tsc..
Congratulations It was an excellent piece of writing. Do go on when you are. I shall be excitedly waiting.
Strong weblog. I acquired lots of good information. I?ng been keeping an eye on this technology for awhile. It?utes fascinating how it retains different, yet some of the core elements remain the same. Perhaps you have observed a lot alter since Google made their own latest acquisition in the field?
android 2.3/.1/.2/.3 |2.4 = Gingerbread
android 3.0 = Honeycomb(SDK released ATM):)
i have a xperia x10i and i am on orange according to sony ericsson’s site it says multi-touch is available but my phone says its on the latest software even plugged into a pc and 2.2 would do for me off sony ericsson just so i had flash cause i use the browser quiet a lot
That’s why u refer to
http://www.xda-developers.com
and install custom roms.
Its better, but involves risk.
Rooting and Flashing roms may sound hard,
but its easy and its good when you read all about it and understand it properly.
Best of all, good luck guys :)
and now, after sony telling us it can’t get past 2.1 because of the hardware
and then relenting to 2.2, but saying no to 2.3
and then saying ‘well, 3.0 is just out of the question!’
XDA Devs prove, again and again, that Sony knows less about development and hardware than their customers do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057309 Android 3.0 for the x10, damn near functional already, with nothing more than an sdk of 3.0, no less!
Wonderful paintings! This is the type of information that should be shared across the internet. Disgrace on the seek for not positioning this post upper! Come on over and seek advice from my web site . Thanks =)
