Another day, another Xperia X1 scoop by our favorite tech blog BGR. Following up on their recent report that Best Buy would be selling the Xperia X1a starting on Dec 7, BGR is now reporting that only Best Buy would carry the black Xperia X1a and they will make it available only online. That means, you can’t pick up an Xperia X1 unit from your nearest Best Buy brick and mortar store.

But the problem is, there’s no exact date yet when Best Buy will accept orders online. On the other hand Sony Ericsson has already announced that it will start accepting pre-orders starting Nov. 13 with an expected delivery date on sometime around 29 November, in time for the Black Friday sale in the U.S. But, those units will most likely be the silver ones. So, if you’re dying to get hold of the black version of the Xperia X1, it seems that Best Buy would be your only choice and you have no other choice but to wait for its release on Best Buy’s online store.

Come to think of it, the black Xperia X1 looks more sleek than the silver models and you’d also get the bragging rights of having one of the few black units which will released by SE.

So, it seems the wait would be pretty much worth it anyway.

  2. As i understand it, having spoken to them both vodafone have the black x1s and o2 will be having the silver ones. I’m a vodafone customer and have the black one, which i have to admit i think does look nicer than the silver one. As an ex-nokin n95 customer, i love the sturdy build quality of the X1

  3. I originally wanted the black, but could only find the silver (in Dubai). The brushed finish is actually quite nice on the silver, enhanced by the fact that it is actually metal (rather than “metal-look” plastic as I’d feared).

Thinking now, considering the black is an annodized finish, it would be subject to show scratches (silver showing through black) much more than the clear coat finish on the silver.

  4. That was a very useful one. I found other interesting articles that compare iphone with Blackberry bold and also some comparison on the latest touch phones like SonyEricsson Xperia and Samsung Omnia. One of the link is below:-

This is quite a helpful one when it comes to choosing phones.
